Employee of the Quarter - Scott

At SkyWater Search Partners, we believe that vibrant communities are built through strong community partnerships. Each quarter, we honor a top-performing team member with the gift of a substantial financial donation, in their name, to a nonprofit organization of their choosing.

This quarter, we are delighted to say:

CONGRATULATIONS, Scott Hebert,  Associate, Sales Executive Search

You are SKYWATER SEARCH PARTNERS’ EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER!

When Scott learned that he had been named Employee of the Quarter, he didn’t need any time to figure out which organization he wanted to support. Twin Cities based NMDP (formerly named the National Marrow Donor Program/Be The Match), the world’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives through “marrow and umbilical cord blood transplantation.”

“Back in 2012, NMDP orchestrated the stem cell transplant for Annie’s mom,” says Scott. He and his girlfriend, Annie, have been actively involved in supporting NMDP ever since. But their reasons for staying so firmly committed to NMDP extend well beyond their own gratitude. “Once you see, firsthand, the power that each of us has to literally save someone’s life, you want to everyone to know,” explains Scott. “You want to get everyone involved.”

Scott and Annie are both registered marrow donors and Scott is a double plasma donor, as well. They want people to know that, contrary to popular belief, it is extremely easy to become a registered donor – and infinitely possible to save someone’s life.

But registering isn’t the only way to support NMDP’s critical work. Each of us can begin by educating ourselves, starting with a visit to the organization’s website. The more we know, the better able each of us will be to advocate. “We tell Judy’s story,” says Scott. “Then we ask everyone to spread the word. That alone is important work.”

Expanding access to minority communities

While NMDP is known for matching patients to donors and funding research, they’re also leading the way in expanding transplant access to historically underserved communities.

Until recently, “Ethnically diverse patients with blood cancers and disorders historically have had less than a 50% chance of finding a donor match for transplant.” But thanks to new research, sponsored by NMDP and conducted through the CIBMT® (Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research®), it is now possible to use “mismatched unrelated donors to expand access to all patients, regardless of ancestry.”

On behalf of everyone at SkyWater Search Partners, Scott, congratulations on being Employee of the Quarter. Thank you for encouraging all of us (who may have heard about NMDP but never understood their work) to get involved.

If you would like to learn more about NMDP, read more here or reach out to Scott. He would love to tell you more.
