Earth Day 2021 - Community

Here at SkyWater, we have always been aware of – and talked about – how important community is to us. We’ve recognized that the very nature of our work is at the very core of building and sustaining a healthy economy and vibrant neighborhoods: we connect talented people with great employers, leadership roles, and opportunities to build personal, family, and community wealth. I’m proud of that.

But if this past year has taught us anything – and we have been earnestly focused on learning the lessons of this past year – it is this: we can do better and we must do better and we will do better. I look forward to sharing more specifics about how we intend to do that, in the near future.

For today, I’d like to share this perspective on Earth Day:

It is more critical than ever that we all step up, make personal and organizational changes to better care for our environment, our climate, our land and water, and the air we breathe. It's also critical that we do the same for our fellow community members. Those that look like us, and those that do not.

“That’s home. That’s us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives… There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known."

-Carl Sagan.

It is reassuring and humbling to see a picture of Earth from that billion-mile perspective. It seems like the perfect reminder to take care of our magnificent home and neighbors by honoring the dignity of everyone with whom we share it.

We wish you a peaceful, healthy, and inspiring Earth Day.
