You might be asking yourself: What Job Search Site Is the Best?
Here we look at some of the most useful apps for your Twin Cities job search and share tips on how to get the most out of them. We’ve also included a few Minnesota careers sites that we’ve found helpful.
LinkedIn Job Search: You may think of LinkedIn as the professional networking site but it also offers robust job search capabilities, allowing you to search by job type and/or skill set. The app is as easy to access on your smartphone as it is on a laptop or desktop. It also saves your customized searches with specific locations and keywords. So new job opportunities that match your criteria an alert come straight to your smartphone.
GlassDoor: Glassdoor also offers both a standalone app in addition to its website. Rising steadily in popularity since 2015, the platform has approximately 60 million users to date, and has become a standard place for employers to post positions they are actively trying to fill. Perhaps what visitors of Glassdoor appreciate the most are the company reviews, giving candidates insight to company culture, the interview experience, and the leadership's approval rating.
Job board apps: Every major jobs site provides an app for jobseekers, including Monster, CareerBuilder, SimplyHire, and Indeed. If you’re pursuing hourly work, hop onto Snagajob (for job seekers who prefer hourly work) and JobAware. Check out LinkUp, the jobs board that advertises only jobs that are found on employer websites, rather than on the global job boards.
Blonk: Like a ‘Tinder for jobs’ app, Blonk is designed to make job search faster and more fun. Just swipe the screen and “tap yes.” The hiring managers will be doing the same. Where there’s mutual interest, there will be further communication.
